    Browning bulk .22LR...not impressed

Or at least my Browning Buckmark doesn't like it. FTF on about 30% (did go off 2nd time). Eats federal bulk about 98%. Feeds everything.

Bought 1600 rounds on an impulse by at LGS when I was in Eureka. Not sure why, as I already had what is probably plenty, but...

Hopefully it works better in one of my other 22's.

    Try it in a 10/22.

Hopefully. I've got a few, including a 10-22. As long as it's reliable in something I won't be too miffed.

No opportunity to try other guns yet. Took a box to the range as the federal bulk pack was getting a bit low. Mainly went to try out the new S&W 41 with some CCI SV ammo, but took the Buckmark too. I was pretty much done shooting after the 41 and finishing the Fed. Decided I'd run a few mags of the Browning for a function check. No bueno.

Browning's 22LR ammo is actually Winchester's bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, so no surprise it's junk.

You couldn't pay me to shoot it in any of my guns.

I'm sure we could come up with a price.

I put 10 thru the Browning SA-22. 1 FTF, but they all fired first try.

Wasn't where I could shoot any more.

            Verdict still out.

Doesn't really matter since I already own them.

Just gotta find out where I can use them without too much frustration. In the Buckmark, reliable ignition was terrible. In the SA-22, ignition was fine. The SA-22 is new to me, so I don't know how picky it is or isn't. Still have the 10/22, Marlin 39 Mountie and S&W 34.

                Reviews seem to be mixed.

My kids got a single shot savage bolt action, if you’re not interested in playing patty cake with it I might be interested in buying it off you.

I am a Buckmark shooter myself. They are not picky. So when something won't shoot out of mine, they go away.

                    Maybe you can sell them?

Either sell them away, or perhaps try a friends revolver that shoots 22 LR?

Silly thing to ask but could the action be dirty? When my .22s get dirty, they fai l to feed or fail to eject. It happened yesterday with a Marlin and a bolt Savage. Three Q-tips and a little solvent took care of the problem.

The Buckmark was a bit dirty (saw 200 rounds of fed bulk prior) but it fed and ejected fine. Just took extra strikes for ignition. The SA-22 is clean as a whistle. 1 FTF out of only 10 tried doesn't tell me enough, but that they all fired first blow tells me these are likely to fire in other guns I have.

I'll try them in some other guns first. The SA-22 ignited them first blow albeit small sample.

Don't worry about it. Just find a brand of bullet that works and stay away from the ones that don't.

A couple of years ago, I got a S&W 22A-1 which shot beautifully and could easily go over 1000 rounds without cleaning with all bullets including Thunderbolts and Golden Bullets except for Federal bulk 550's in the blue box. This was with multiple tries with each bullet. This was the first rimfire gun that would regularly misfire with a certain bullet. When I got home to disassemble the bullets, the primer went off (or there was no primer to begin with but in other guns, I never had a misfire with bullets from the same box).

I simply now know not to use any of the Federal bulk blue boxed ammo with that gun. They work fine in other guns and any other ammo works fine in the 22A-1, but the combo is just asking for trouble so the best thing is to simply avoid that combination.
