    Stuck Brass

I was excited, I got a Hornady Single Stage Classic Press and the the other goodies to reload my own 338 Lapua. Much to my disappointment after depriming and resizing 8 cartridges the 9th one got stuck in the die; and it will remain there until the end of time, there is no getting that brass out... especially after I completely mangled what is left of the case trying to pry it out. Afterwards I had the idea of putting it in the freezer to loosen it up, but maybe that wont work anyway. So, I already ordered a new die and it was delivered today, (thank you Midway). My question is what lube do you find the most useful for these large rifle cases?

    thanks!

Buy a stuck case removal kit or look it up and see if you can make one with items around the shop. For lube, I have had great luck with Imperial Sizing Die Wax.

Send the die back to the manufacture, they will remove whats left of the case and send it back to you. (RCBS will do it free) not sure about others.

Also stay away from Hornady's OneStuck (Oneshot) its crap.

Agreed. Most stuck case posts I see are due to oneshot

I've actually had good luck with Oneshot. Gotta give it a bit of time to dry though.

Lotta folks like the Dillon spray lube. Put cases in a bag, spray and hand tumble them.

Hornady Unique sizing paste works as good as Imperial IMHO.

A trace of lube inside the case mouth can really help.

Mix 4oz Lanoline oil with 32oz 99% alcohol (8to1 ratio) and put this in a spray bottle, this stuff works good and not to expensive.

You can still stick cases with imperial wax. Stuck case kit for the win.

I use the RCBS Pump SPRAY lube. I buy it by the case. I use it for every rifle case from 204R to 50BMG. It even works with brass that has been fired full-auto. That is a 2 handed operation when sizing 50bmg. I do not get stuck cases.

I tried One-Stuck and that is what I got with simple cases like 223 and 308. I could not size 5 in a row without at least one stuck case. My friends had the same trouble. They switched to the RCBS Spray and no problems.

You need a stuck case remover. RCBS makes a good one.

I have Imperial Wax but the RCBS spray lube and a baking pan is much faster. I also try to spray some into the case mouths on some of the brass to lube the expander ball. BUT I do tumble again for a short time after sizing. Then clean any clogged primer pockets/flash holes.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Dillon lube. make sure you lube the inside of the neck.
spray and let it semi dry. read the directions.

buy a stuck case remover. and you will no longer get stuck.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

This probably works the same as carrying a spare inner tube and tire changing tools on my dirt bike. As long as I am carrying all the gear, I never get a flat. But leave the gear at home and you are guaranteed to get a puncture.
