    Reloading for 7.62x54r

Just bought a Mosin Nagant 7.62x54r for my grandson. Looking around for brass and bullets. Appear to be limited choices. Will be primarily used for target shooting for now. Suggestions for sources please.

    Reloading for 7.62x54r

PPU loaded rounds or PPU brass is good. Lapua brass is also good, but expensive. Norma brass is also good.

For bullets I like Sierra for 174gr bullets. They are the diameter size for a Mosin.

The Bulletsmiths®. Reloadable bullets for rifles and pistols designed for precision target shooting, hunting, and defense. Crafting a tradition of precision since 1947.

Here are my reloads with PPU brass and Sierra 174gr HPBT rounds.

Fun shooting all day long with no sore shoulder

I did just pickup a Lyman 200gr bullet mold for mine.

        Lyman 200gr RN-GC #314299

Can't wait to cast some and try them.

Lyman rifle moulds are the standard by which all other rifle moulds are judged. Lyman molds are made from solid steel and heat-cured to oxidize the metal. This blues the mould and minimizes the time required for the breaking-in process. Requires double-cavity mold handles, sold separately. #467 Top Punch Recommended, Sold Separately.

Thanks for the Red Dot load.

Here is the article for "the load" aka 13gr of red dot. 13 gr worked great in my garand. Loved shooting it I have 150gr cast loaded up for my mosin right now

For real fun I load 10gr's of unique and a .32 100gr pistol bullet.

Zero recoil and sounds like 22LR.

Be sure to slug your bore. Mine was 0.314" so I beagled my C312-185-1R to drop at 0.315" (actually 0.315 x 0.318) then opened up a Lee 0.314" sizer 1 mil to make them round at 0.315"
