    69gr SMK + h335 loads?

So I have a box of 69gr SMK and a lot of H335. Normally I use Varget with my SMK loads but I'd like to use up my H335 powder. i've only loaded H335 with 55gr and under bullets. Manuals seem to point to a max charge of 24grs but I hate wasting good bullets with ball park numbers working my way up. I'll be shooting them out of a Savage 12 with 26 inch barrel 1/9 twist.

    Thanks

It's not wasting bullets if it saves you from having a case explode due to overcharging. YOu really should work your way up. And someone elses load may not work the same in YOUR RIFLE. That being said, I have had good results at around 24gr using remington cases and primers.

haha well thats not what I ment. Normally I would load 10 rounds of each weight starting with the min charge and work up in .5 increments (21, 21.5, 22,22.5.....) to the max. Once I found the best group i would work on dialing in the last few 10th's of a grain. finding the right load will burn through my box of 100 SMK just in testing.

      I'll try 24grs. Thanks.

How much difference does the powder make? I have been using H335 for my 55 gr FMJ and it works well. I bought a box each of Hornady and Sierra 69 gr HPBT and just loaded a handful of the Hornady with Varget. What a pain in the neck; my RCBS powder measure kept hiccuping on a grain of powder. Plus, even with only 24 grains, I was crunching the powder as I seated the bullet to 2.26. I am thinking maybe I would be just as well off using my H335 or trying BLC2 which I have a pound of. I only shoot at 100 yards so I don't care about 600 yard performance.
Check back later for a witty comment.
