S&W 25-5 Long Colt New load and Range Report

Worked up a new load for my S&W 25-5 Long Colt (all throats are .452) using 45ACP 200Gr SWC.
Used 6.5Gr Red Dot, 1.650 OAL, and estimated 875 fps. At 30 feet, gave 1.100 /5 round group and 1.000/ 9 round group not counting 1 flyer. I mostly shoot 1911s, it has been awhile since I have this Smith out to the range, that is going to change.

That’s a decent group. 1.650” is a bit long for 45LC, in my experience. Most of my loads come in at 1.60 (SAAMI max) or less.
Which 200gr bullet did you use?

Bullet is Bear Creek moly coated 200GR SWC. Just double checked and they are 1.650 OAL, and you are correct SAAMI max is 1.600. They are long, but fit in the cylinder just fine in my 25-5.
