Plated bullets in revolver (Rainiers in .32 H&R Mag)?

Any comments / experiences using the Rainiers or other plated bullets in loads for revolvers. Pics I've seen show no cannelure / crimp grove. I've had a problem in the past with bullets jumping enough to almost lock my cylinder and that was when lightly crimping on a hardcast bullet with a crimp groove. My loads are on the high side of published data, but the recoil seems light with this caliber. I would like to find a tmj or plated bullet and am looking at the Rainiers. Thought I would check in before purchasing. Thanks.

I use lots of them. Xtreme’s bullets have cannelures.

What speeds are you looking to push these at?

I use Xtremes in .45 colt and they do have a cannelure, but I have not seen that they sell plated bullets in .32, at least not on their Web site.

Expected velocities are between 1,000 and 1,200 fps. I am not really worried about them surviving the speeds, but rather being able to apply enough crimp/tension for them to stay in place under recoil without damaging the plating.

Roll crimp should bite even without cannelure. I’ve loaded 38/357 without cannelure and not had any trouble if the crimp is good enough
