    Rats Raiding My Powder Supply!

I was rearranging my powder shelf, and noticed a small handful of Blue Dot on the shelf. Then I saw a small amount of IMR 4064. What the heck?
Then, as I moved my 4 lbs container of now unobtanium IMR SR 4759, a small pile was there, too!
I found itsy bitsy teeth marks and (fortunately) small holes near the bottom of the plastic powder containers. Rats! I have vermin eating my gunpowder.
Has anyone else heard of this?
Maybe the powder companies should go back to metal containers. I'll be moving all the powder to metal cabinet.

So which powder seemed to be their favorite?

Those Vermin don't seem picky. They ate through a box of Decon I had stored at work one day. I guess that problem just solved itself. LOL

They’re just chewing to find out what’s in there. Put some bad mouse bait in there...give them something “special” to eat. That will solve your problem.

Holy crap I did that too. Dang thing went into my wall. I had to open the wall. The smell was so strong, it made "find that smell" hard because the whole house stank.

Don’t talk about rats!!! Just today I spent $525 on exactly that problem! My neighbors are pigs and they crawl over the wall into my yard. My Husky has killed 6 already. They leave a grease trail from where they crawl into my yard too. Had to have all the vents and screens repairs and bait stations placed with the most toxic stuff they make. The pest control control guy was even afraid to handle the bait without putting on full protective gear. Lol.

                good old fashion mouse traps.

remember they chew on wiring also.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

                    Hey Red,

If you could get them to eat a few primers the process might work as well as the use Johnny Horton had for Gators ... Smaller caliber though.

About 1:45 in for the lyric.

We fired our cannon till the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round
We filled his head with cannonballs 'n' powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind

The rumor was this song was written by a teacher to help his students remember the history lesson. Many other songs followed and they all became hits. School was fun when I was a kid.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

If you are going the "snap route" skip the Tom Cat brand that Home Depot sells. I had some old Victor and caught 7 big guys, but the traps finally had to be replaced.

I have 8 of the Tom Cats. Zero rats and the are getting fat off the bait. Now they are in the engine compartment of the car.

Called an exterminator and for the car, was told place Irish Spring soap around the inside of the engine compartment; seems "some" rats don't like the smell. Dealership also recommends the soap too.

                        Respectfully

This is why I hated working on vehicles that sat around, like motorhomes etc. Creepy-crawly critters galore.

Definitely will try the Irish Spring trick in my yard.

I tried the Irish Spring soap trick. Didn't work. But I have the cleanest rats in town now. Do rat's reload? Nothing scarier than a pristine rat with a 1911. Seriously, I would have six cats. No poison.
