    Powder disposal

I had a small amount of W231 left in the press for months.
I assume it's not good to use. Where can I safely dump it

Makes good fertilizer. Or just dump it on the ground outside and take a match to it.

^^^ That would be my question. It should still be good. Load it up and use it the way it was meant to be used.

I've had powder in a measure for many months.. it's not exactly something that goes bad sitting in a measure.. It might have lost a little oomph.. but I doubt you would notice any difference..

I have dedicated powder measures that during my match season it never gets emptied just topped off. as long as the humidity is is normal, the temp is normal, and it has a lid and you use it. There is no issue. when I'm done shooting matches for the year the measure gets dumped back in the 8# jug and we wait till Jan to start all over again.

When powder breaks down it changes color. If you smell an acrid acidic aroma coming off the powder, or see red dust on it, it is probably bad. Bad Powder Smell

If you want to keep it, just pour it back in the jug. If you just want to get rid of it, then spread it out on the lawn or in the garden.

The powder in my hoppers is old too, many months, depending on which press it's on. I load them and shoot them. I have ammo from the 60's (.303 british) and it still works. If powder in 50 year old ammo still works, a month in a hopper is nothing.
