    .223 Primer Problems

The little buggers wont seat Using lyman crusher press (single station) I've only gotten 2 primers to actually seat in my brass. I know the press is set up because i've loaded a bunch of .300 win mag already and they all primed fine.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Its like the primers are just being crushed and not actually seating. then they fall apart and are worthless. Using my own once fired PMC Bronze brass, and CCI small rifle primers

Does your brass have any signs of having crimped primer pockets??

Maybe a little deburring is needed.

thats what it seems Bohoki. I tried a couple of winchester cases and they primed up like butter. So i know the press is set up fine. I have a primer pocket cleaner? But I'm guessing I need yet another special tool If anyone could link me to this tool that'd be great.

Thanks for the fast responses guys!

Yes, you might want to deburr the primer pocket. Make sure the primer pockets are as clean as the brass after tumbling. Normally this wouldn't be necessary, but since the primers are falling apart... are you using large rifle primers for small rifle brass? My Dillon 550b works great for .223.

You can substitute a pocket knife with a sharp blade, until you pick up
            a Chamfer/Deburring tool.

you also can just buy the head for about $1 less but the handle is worth it cause nothing beats a nice chunk of knurled aluminum now and then

A regular case deburring tool works fine.

No need to leave the primer pockets super clean. Just buy a Dillon Super Swager and that will take care of your crimped primer pockets.
