I was next to someone at the range who was using rex in 45ACP. He usually used win231 and was now using rex 5.0 grs. No chrono, but he was pleased with accurracy and cleanliness. Plus it is 1/2 the cost of 231. Sold in kilo's so 2.2 pounds was about 20.00...he was planning on switching.

      Really - that is interesting.

Powder Valley has some in stock - and yes, the price is nice.

Anyone know where their web-site is? When you search for 'rex gun powder' you get a lot of tangential hits.

          Thanks Vavoom.

Guess I know now what I'm going to reload shot shells with.

I've used 17.5 gr Rex I for Trap target loads from 7/8-1&1/8 oz. It shoots soft compared to Hodgdon Clays, but a bit dirtier though.

I got 25 lbs delivered in person to me over a year ago along with my shot, wads and lead for trap shooting. Funny system. The 25lbs of powder came in single heavy duty big plastic bag tied in hemp string in a cardboard box. The powder is small silver flake almost like Clays with some fine powder at the bottom of the bag. For a bit of time, I scooped cups of it to fill my shotshell loader until I got some 8lb kegs to transfer the Rex I into theml I've only got 10lbs left. That's how much shotgun I've been shooting.

I've not tried for Rex I for pistol loads at all. According to the Rex Powder load data, Rex II is suitable for pistol loads.

From my understanding the 25lbs can't be shipped as it's considered explosives or something like that. Local pickup is what some dealers say for that volume.
