I am not stupid enough to believe I know everything . I have been reloading since I came back from "Nam . I have no one making me read posts and I just skip ones I don't like / believe .
There has to be a line somewhere . One of the bad things is it is hard to get someones address - so I now p-mail and keep them .

I belong to another online forum that actually screens the daylights out of anyone wishing to participate. Really! I'm sure there are a few inadequate personalities that cheated their way in there, but then there is some fair but very, very firm moderation to keep things where they should be. You actually have to pay to participate, as well. I think all those factors work to keep the riff-raff out, or at least silent.

No nonsense, no rude behavior, no disrespectful behavior, no immature chest-beating. Nothing but (mostly) thoughtful discourse and good times.

All the good stuff, and none of the childish, inane static you find on too many public forums. It is strictly moderated, and the members support that, because if that forum goes down, it's back into the pits with the dogs. In other words, back to public forums with people like SantaCruz and Stilly.

Public forums require some muscular moderation. I know a lot of folks won't like the fact that I lumped Stilly in with SantaCruz, but he earned all those previous bans. He was thin-skinned and prone to rudeness, and he took himself way, way, too seriously. It was like watching a hack stand-up comic. Mildly amusing the first time, but he gets tiresome pretty quickly.

The biggest mistake I saw in all of this was the delay in dealing with SantaCruz. He should have been crap canned long before he was. You let people like that pollute your forum, and before long all you are left with are more fools, more losers, more inadequate personalities. The good members leave, the bad ones are emboldened.

The place I disagree here is with the notion that Stilly took himself too seriously. Having met Stilly in person, Having been loaned die sets and tools on occasion from Stilly and Having had hours worth of conversation with Stilly on my driveway, the only thing I can really say is that 99% of what comes out of his mouth (or fingers as it were) is dry humor. Meant to illicit a bemused smile, or to break the weak. Of course Ive seen him get personal with people like he did with SantaCruz.....but then SantaCruz did tell him to eat a D!@k.... I dont know, maybe its because of my background that I dont get as easily offended, maybe its because I weigh the quality of Stilly's advice above his occasional antics.

You are right about the pay to play forums, if at least in the validity and quality of information. I believe that is where we come to the crux of this conversation. Stilly was, at least to me a quality source of information, everything he ever told me has be solid while some others have given me.....fundamentally and factually incorrect information... Some of the information I see come across these boards is not only wrong but in some cases dangerous, and then at other times boarding on the frantically, and irrationally over cautious.

Its fine, I accept that this is within the perview of the owner, but I think I will head on over to the other forum today and I will spend the majority of my time over there from here on out.

Ah, Stilly, we know him well, and some of us miss him, You did have to filter out some of the noise, but his advice was spot on.....For the most part..
