deformation during powder drop

I've got a Hornady LnL AP which I haven't used in about 5 years. I used it well enough back then, although I didn't get to stick w/ the action pistol thing I was interested in and the reloading fell by the wayside.

I just started reloading rifle again and got it all setup and was running rounds through. The case-activated powder drop was pretty consistently snagging a bit which I wrote up to long, extruded powder getting chopped.

Near the end of the batch one pull felt stiffer than normal and the next one was stiffer still. I stopped after the 2nd and pulled out the brass (w/ powder) and the second looked like the picture attached.

Any ideas what caused this?

I took all the powder drop stuff apart and blew it out w/ some air and put it back together and it's back to normal. I'm thinking powder was stuck somewhere and closing up the tolerances? I'm not sure how though as the little meter has an up-down travel and it never hit the top -- in fact it seemed like it wasn't going as high as it should have.

you need to readjust the powder drop to the plate or perhaps you are using a pistol insert rather than the rifle one
