    Downloading H110

I heard somewhere slow powders don't do well downloaded, is this true?

I plan on reducing my load for 44 Mag by 10% from that posted on Hodgdon's website.

    Thanks

10% is the normal reduction percentage for that type of powder. Just make
sure that the Hodgdon info is in fact the Max. charge before you reduce it.

I beg to differ. When the powder in question is involved, not more than 3% is the recommended reduction.

Wow, totally off-topic, but when I saw the thread title, I was all "Awesome! Powder that I can download from the internet!"

H110/W296 does NOT respond well to downloading. If you want a lighter load, change powders.

What he said. Take a look at Hogdon's website. They show a minimum starting load as well as a max load. As with H-110, don't underload other slow burner's like WW296, etc.

8 or 9 grains of Unique make a good 44 mag target load. Got plenty of that powder for 45acp and 28ga already and it is economical to use since it doesn't load up much past 10 grains in 44 mag 240 grain.

I haven't tried going much past the optimal book load (up or down) on W296/H110, but I do know that one lists a wider range of loads than the other according to the most current website data. I also know for a fact that they are the same powder. I bought a lb each from turners at the same time and both bottles had the same lot number on them. Looked the same, smelled the same, tasted the same...

                    Don't f--- with W296/H110 or Lil'Gun.

If you want reduced loads choose another powder or you'll be sorry.

I think something like 80% of CAS shooters use either TiteGroup or Unique. Rumor has it there are a couple of Red Dot fans, the rest use BP/PDX
