For Those That Buy Brass

So a lot of the brass I will be reloading is once fired, by me. But for some calibers, I never thought about saving the cases since I always just bought factory ammo in bulk and wasn't into reloading. This is mainly for 9mm, .40, and .45 ACP. My questions would be do you guys buy new brass or once fired brass and from where? My knowledge of supplies like this is Midway. Where are some lesser known places that sell new/once-fired good quality(once-fired) with good prices?

I know a couple people in SoCal that collect range brass and sell it. The straight walled pistol cases you need are cheap and plentiful! They can be reloaded many many times too!

Try Etsy they have cheap once fired brass. I've gotten a couple thousand from there. You can get processed or unprocessed for cheap.

9mm, 40s&w, and 45acp? Do you shoot at an indoor range? I think all my brass except for the initial 250 factory rounds of 9mm was picked up at the range.

I guess its a good idea to buy some to get started, but if you're going home with less brass than with what you showed up with, you're doing something wrong.

For common calibers like 223, 9 or 45...it doesn't make sense to buy brand new brass to load. When you break it down....it ends up being more expensive or the same price as factory ammo.

What i do is i buy bulk factory and then i hang on to the brass. With 9mm....you can just keep using it virtually indefinitely. You're guaranteed to lose them before you'll have to stop using them.

The only reason you should be buying brand new brass is if you are competing, or if you have oddball cartridges....

the range i use doesn't allow brass collection. If you have a range where they do allow it, then you realistically don't even have to buy any brass....you can easily collect 100-200 pieces each trip.....

Another point is that i keep brands seperated as well. Each brand is slightly different and i'd rather keep my variables to a minimum...

This is pretty much the rule at most of the places I shoot at. In addition, some don't allow you to pull in anything in that goes in front of the firing line which, depending on what I'm shooting is about half of everything.
