Save your money for a wet tumbler. Wait till black friday or cyber monday. Should get a good deal.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I use a Lyman 1200, works really well. It's made in the USA if that matters to you.

I'm using pet store lizard terrarium crushed walnut and a couple squirts of meguiars cleaner wax with the brass. Does a really nice job.

Pic of twice fired PMC brass I processed today attached. The walnut and the meguiars does a really nice job of getting it clean and polished. The meguiars has wax in it too so the thin coat of wax actually allows the brass to come clean after the next firing too with less tumbling.

Sold some stuff on eBay today.

Ordered the Frankford hand deprimer tool for $39 shipped. I also ordered the Hornady 10th edition book from Brownells for $27 shipped. Used AJ for another 4% savings.

Well I guess it has begun!

Gonna try to flip a few other things and make my way up to that wet tumbler...

Damn that brass is clean!! Do you use a brass catcher?

I'm the guy that asks for a far lane in the indoor ranges, because the ranges habitually sweep all the brass to the edge of the wall and it just piles up there where I can grab hand fulls at a time. Yeah, I'm THAT guy.

This is the direction I'm heading... though haven't committed yet.

I'm in Calguns/Youtube research mode right now...

Interesting, cheap tumbler + good media = good results. Something to consider! Thank you!

We try but a lot of times we end up picking up the brass off the ground. Using the cleaner wax, the cases come clean really easy.

I have thought of wet tumbling but it's a lot more hassle than standard tumbling. You'll have to add brass, tumble, rinse, drain, separate, dry, etc. with the standard tumbler it's literally throw in the brass and the cleaner wax and close the lid. Remove brass in a couple hours or when clean. Yeah, it's probably not as good, but I'm not prepared for the hassle just to get slightly cleaner brass.

I have that Franklin and use corn cob. Cleans the outside good but inside not so much. I tumble for 2 hrs, approximately 300 cases at a time. I usually do it after I deprime, maybe I should do it before?

I deprime on my press. The sizing die decaps and sizes in the same stroke.

Just got the Franklin wet tumbler. So much better, faster. 30 pounds capacity. Separating pins isn't so bad. I use the Franklin bucket strainer. Hose the brass or projos shake. Then rinse. Dump in some car wash. Rinse. Strain out water. Towel tumble. Air dry. 1000 cases at a time. Yup brass and primer pockets are clean.
I buy pulled projos so I tumble them too.

If you buy the wet tumbler, brass comes out cleaner. If you buy the dry tumbler, you can save a few bucks. Both require a few hours of spinning, either style has a fair amount of noise associated with cleaning.
Wet requires dry time prior to loading.

I tend to run spent brass through tumbler prior to decapping. It prevents dirty, nasty brass from anywhere but garage. After tumble, hands actually stay clean while processing brass. Guess you could wear rubber gloves but I am over having caked on lead/powder residue staining my hands.

Still have not tried running wet tumbler with stainless pins. Cases come out clean without any added tumbling media. Water, Lemmishine and dish liquid has them clean enough to reload without winning prize for reflective surface.

As far as hand held decapper, I've got nothing to add. You have already been given a bunch of decent choices. I do have a Universal decapping die mounted on an $35 Lee press that I do use in a pinch. Very portable unit, total cost of press and die, under $50 and you could, in a pinch, reload ammo on press

I'm leaning slightly towards the Lyman because i like the sorting trays it comes with. I'm ok with the cost and maintenance.
