Lee classic turret and Lyman prep Center loading 223

I've mentioned in another thread I had a big gift card for Scheels up in Reno. I couldn't find anything that I could use so I got a Dillon 550C and have been contemplating setting it up and storing my Lee classic turret. I don't have room for two presses honestly. I used my Lee classic turret for everything but never really in one complete start to finish process on rifle rounds. So before I setup the 550c I really wanted to see how easy it was to use my auto disk rifle setup on the classic turret for a start-to-finish process . I am sure I will set the 550C up soon but it is so easy on the CLASSIC TURRET and changing out calibers takes like 2 minutes.

I did a quick youtube video. I don't know what is going on with the video but it starts blurry and then if you click a couple seconds ahead it gets clear. I'm not a technical guy at all and I honestly can barely use my $30 smartphone so hopefully the video doesn't look too bad and if it does I'm sure everybody on YouTube will let me know LOL

The Dillon will take about that much time to change calibers also so not much difference there. The speed will come from one pull of the Dillon doing every step of the process at the same time.

The slowest part of changing a Dillon from one caliber to another is if you need to change from large to small primers (or visa versa). I know it is a PITA on the 650 and that is why I have two different primer setups. I think the 550 is easier but don't quote me on that.

Oh yeah and enjoy the new press as well as the old one. I still use my single stage from time to time, and I am sure you will find that you go back to the turret from time to time.

I used the auto disk on a 550 I had a few years ago and it worked really good so will probably still use it.

The auto disk works really well for 223.

Do you find doing all the steps while rotating the turret is more efficient then handling each case multiple times and doing each step over and over again 50-100 times?

Well I usually have bass all prepped in batches. Most times I am only dropping powder and seating bullet, but it is nice if I want to just make like 20 rounds to have the ability to go start to finish pretty quickly.

When I was doing a lot of work with single stage presses, I found a significant part of the time involved was putting in the cases into the shell holder and taking them out again. A Lee turret press makes that time a bit less. I like the time savings coupled with being able to use my digital powder dispenser for the work I do. I even have come to appreciate their priming system. The priming systems have always been the downfall with me and progressive loading.
