    Dillon super swager

Am I doing something wrong? I can't seem to get my brass to take a primer after I swage. Is there a better tool out there? I already have the rcbs swager and have used a counter sink in the past. Was hoping this would be the last military remover I bought.

You probably haven't adjusted the rod properly. I never had a problem with mine.

How do u adjust the rod properly. The way I have it adjusted is the case will just slip past the plate.

The Dillon 600 Super Swager is way better than using a deburring tool to shave that crimp. Also, way better than the CH4D swager.

You need to read the instructions on how to set-up not just for the swaging rod but also the level/cartridge guide so that the swager is hitting that crimp.

I much prefer using a cutter designed to remove the crimp but, I also like the CH4D swager too. Both are simple to use with mixed head stamped brass and give quick, easy and consistent results. I own a Super Swager but have virtually given up using it unless I am running a batch of brass that I know has consistent case head thicknesses.

You downloaded them from Dillon's website or call Dillon and ask them to send you a copy.

Thank you. That was the info I needed. I believe the issue was the plate set screw wasn't locked.

I bought my 1050 because it had the built in swager.

I swage mixed brass with mine and have no problems. I do not need to readjust it for each brand.
                        This is what I do:
I adjust the rod out as far as possible so it will do any brass.
Then I do not have to move the handle to the stop for each piece of brass.
I swage the brass by feel. It is easy to tell how much is enough and to not overdo it.
I have done many, many thousands of pieces of 223/5.56, 7.62X51/308win and 30-06 with mine.

It is very simple to use like that unless you are a idiot and cannot tell when the crimp is removed so you force it all the way. I have had several other people use it and they had no problems also.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I'm on sabbatical leave from any crimp cutting tools since I'm saving the wrist turning for the Giraud Trimmer

CH4D is excellent for staked-type crimp but it is a hit/miss for me when it comes to processing the centered or off-centered crimps. Sorting the brass based on year and make helps a lot but it is still a lot of fiddling or brass turning as you swage just to hit the crimp.

If I'm doing a bunch, I'll just chuck a primer reamer in a drill press. BTW, the Giraud trimmer is awesome.
