    62gr .556 recommendations

    Since a lot (almost all) of my local ranges are restricting the use of M855 I am looking for recommendations for other 62gr 5.56 ammo without the steel penetrator.

    One of the readily available loads is the "new" Hornady Black 62gr 5.56 FMJ, but I don't know anyone that has shot it before.

    I realize I could just switch to 55gr for plinking but my most commonly used Uppers are equipped with 1:7 barrels and the 62gr shoots better.

      Have you shot many 55gr.? My 1-7 shoots 55gr a lot better than 62gr

        That has certainly not been my experience...

        Mostly Federal AE and PMC factory loads.
