As long as the case neck is still holding the projectile and the round fits into the mag and cycles without issue there isn't a problem at all. Personally, I prefer my reloads to be close to the lands. For example, coal for my .284 Win is 2.800" or so, but I load to 3.120". Shoots great with no issues.

Most factory barrels will have long throats so it'll feed everything reliably. Had a Browning BAR once in 7mm rem mag, where reloads at max mag length it wasn't even close to touching the lands.

Good luck reloading and let us know how she shoots.

Using the standard tables work well for me. Test for best personal results @ 100 meters.

Great info. I'm just starting to load 270 win and the lands in my rem 700 are are .119" above listed max col. Had this exact question. Thanks again, calguns!

If you are loading Barnes bullets(TSX or TTSX) then the jump is good. They LIKE a lot of jump. Other bullets not so much.
