    30-06 Brass

Where are people getting their 30-06 brass from these days? Everywhere I look seems to be out of the sanely-priced stuff (MidwayUSA, Grafs, etc.). And how about once-fired military 30-06 brass? I can't seem to find any of that stuff for sale anywhere, either. My Google Fu is weak today, I guess.

Order from CMP. The Greek stuff in the can is really good. Especially if you have a Garand because it comes on the clips already. If not, they have another "battle pack" available that is not packed onto the Garand Clips. If it were me, I'd buy a can of that, go do some plinking and reload the brass.

+1 for what 5hundo said, I shoot my surplus CMP ammo and reload it.
Some people will do skanky things for $25, and not all those people are crack whores.

I get my stuff from Natchez Shooting Supply. They are real good folks to deal with. I also just got 3 boxes of CCI Large Pistol Primers there. That was the only place I could find them and they shipped out right away.

                Hi guys,

Yeah I know about the CMP and have ordered a fair amount from them (and actually need to get some more as well).

However, I'm trying to do two things which ordering from the CMP won't help me with.

                1) Reload cast bullets. I have about 1000 gas-checked cast 168 gr .308 bullets that were given to me recently. There is a range of IMR 4895 powder loads which will shoot cast bullets and cycle the action on the Garand. When I work up a good load, this will actually be slightly cheaper than getting ammo from the CMP, and will keep me plinking for a little while.

                2) Reload for 35 Whelen. Friend of mine has a 35 Whelen rifle but doesn't reload and commercial ammo for it is just insanely priced.

I have about 500 empty cases LC / HXP, but that still leaves me short. Hence the search for 30-06 brass.

Looks like I've got some good offers for brass here, so I think my needs will be met.

Please keep us posted on getting the cast bullet reloads to cycle the Garand. I've had mixed results with some of the "will cycle Garands" loads.
