    Varget for the AR-15 ?

anybody have experience running varget with 55 grainers out the 20"
AR? Seems to be recomended for 62 grainers and up and I am a bit worried about possible short stroking.

Mine short strokes with that set up and the 50 Gr. Varmint Grenades. Dont really want to load them up wth more powder. have never had a problem with win748 and any bullet combo, except the VG.

I like Varget better then Win 748 because it seems to burn a little cleaner. I use both out of my 20 in AR with 1/9 barrel all the way up to 26.5 gr with 55gr.

Varget is my favorite powder for AR & bolt guns. I load 24g of varget and 55g goldenwestb. fmjs and shoot 1 1/2'' groups from my 20'' bushy, this lighter load shoots more accurate I just don't know the speed (no chrony yet). with hornady v max 60g it will shoot sub moa with the same charge

25g Varget for a 55g FMJ seems to be one of the standard plinking loads. From what I've been reading in the "where's all the reloading components?" threads, Varget seems to be the powder that sells out first. That should tell you something.

Works great in my 16" middie, I've never had problems with that recipe.

Chief is the ONLY person running Varget because he bought it ALL!!!...

I have 2, 1lb cans and it shoots fine. Its a fancier powder with great Heat and Cold tolerance. H335 is also a good powder, cheaper than varget.

H335 is my first choice in powders for 55gr plinking loads.
                      It meters very very consistently.

I use noting but H335 for my SS109 nd 55gr plinking loads as well as all my 308 blasting loads in my 1919A4. Varget gets used for all my match and hunting loads in 308, 223 and 30-06

Hey chief, I scored an 8lb jug of Varget at the Cow Palace gun show. I thought you had a lock on the supply. I could sell it to you. make me an offer.

Or me and my boys could sell you insurance to make sure your garage does not go up in smoke. (heavy Italian accent)

Congrats on buying 8 lil pounds.

If my house was to catch on fire, I would only loose a little bit of my supply of Varget. I have it in different places with friends/neighbors.
