Just wondering if the pull marks will hinder or even perform properly and not mess up the barrel lining? Got some pull downs but they have pretty bad marks, would it be safe to load and shoot them out of a rifle? TIA!

I would not shoot them in a BR match but, unless they are really bad, they should work fine. If you have any concerns, run them through a sizing die first.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Back before I gave up cast , I got sizing dies for most of the calibers I reload . Been given a lot of pulls over years .
If very much is shaved off , into scrap bucket .
One thing to watch for is copper build up in sizing die .
This will scratch bullets .
I won't buy pulls [ to much work for the little I save ] but if given I will play with them .life member - CRPA and NRA

Some size all pulled bullets and some shoot them as they are. I am only really concerned if in the pulling process that bullets become out of round. For $19-$20 you can buy Lee's bullet sizing dies and run all pulled bullets through them. It will iron down any pull marks and scratches and even round pinched bullets. It won't make them exactly perfect but I "feel" better sizing them. I've bought a lot of pulled .224 diameter as well as 30 and 50 Caliber bullets and size all pulled bullets. I think the barrel is fine with pull marks but I am more concerned about the pull marks inside the necks of the brass and even possibly making the neck out of round. Different pulling processes leave pull marks on the bullet shank that goes into the neck while others may only leave marks that will be outside the case. The Lee Bullet sizing dies for $20 is a good investment if you shoot a lot of pulled bullets. The Lee dies are made for sizing lead bullets but work fine with jacketed bullets. Only need to apply a little sizing lube every few bullets to make the sizing process easier. Not a new idea, lots use Lee's bullet sizing dies for pulled jacketed bullets.

I picked up some sierra 175g smks that had bad pull marks ..... found out the hard way that they sucked !! They had erratic trajectories that were not at all consistent so basically flew all over the place out to 400yds ... anything past that distance was a sure miss, switched over to the good pills & rounds went back on target ! These were out of a precision bolt gun .
Decided to load the rest for blasting Ammo in the BAR 30'06Comment
