    Clean(er) 44mag or 44Spl?

Of all the ranges in my area my favorite is still closed for remodeling. I liked it because it was outdoors and I can shoot any gun I want without choking on the smoke. Since that one is closed I have been going to my second favorite that is indoor only. I never shot my 44 magnum indoors until now and ALL of my 44 Mag and Spl ammo makes so much smoke that after a few rounds it become pretty unbearable unless I stop for a few minutes. It's not the range, they have a good air system and nothing else have I ever seen create so much smoke. The DT 320gr, wow, lots of smoke (and ouch in my M69). Those low velocity cowboy loads, forget about it, it's like shooting black powder indoors. And it's not just one type of ammo, I have shot about 5 different types of 44 and they are all really smoky. Those of you who shoot 44 (or 45LC probably) know what I am talking about.

To the point: Does anyone know of a clean (or cleaner) type 44 magnum or special practice ammo that is out there? Is the 44 Russian less smoky because of powder load?

    Thanks.

I assume you are shooting jacketed ammo? Lead (typical cowboy loads) smokes a lot due to the lubrication. If you aren't shooting jacketed ammo try it and see if it gets better.
