I'm using pet store crushed walnut (which is sold for using in terrariums) right now. I've been putting a bit of McGuire's cleaner wax in the media before filling the tumbler...running low on walnut, this seams cheaper and may work just as well.

How does cleaning/polishing compare to walnut? Thanks in advance for the info.

You can get walnut media cheap at harbor freight. It seems to be a bit more aggressive than corn cob for cleaning, no difference in the polishing dept. I wet tumble with ss for cleaning/polishing dirty brass. I use corn cob in a vibrator for removing case lube from finished ammo.
