I wanted to load some sub-sonic rounds for my 300 black out, and found some load data for IMR Trail Boss. When I tried to purchase some of this powder I was told it's now made by Hogdon, And the sales person brought out a can of it to show me. This seems very strange to me that one company would stop making a powder, and another would start making one named the same. Are these two manufactures powders the same, and can I use the load data from the IMR powder for the Hogdon?

Let us know how it works. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't cycle in a semi auto, but if it does, I'll use it for lighter subsonic bullets!
My 308 subsonic load is any 165-180 bullet with 9.0 grains of TrailBoss. It shoots GREAT, is quiet, and has no recoil. Very fun.Comment

Just for the record, the old labeled IMR Trail Boss powder is the same as the new labeled Hodgdon Trail Boss powder. Trail Boss "is not" made by Hodgdon. Its made by a company called ADI in Australia. Better known as Australian Munitions. Hodgdon buys the powder, bottles and relabels it with there there own brand name. Like others have said, Hodgdon bought out IMR and Winchester powders and controls all marketing of these brands.Cowboy Action Shooter
