My wife asked me what i wanted for fathers day and I said, "reloading equipment, everything I want is on my amazon wishlist." Now theres a big box from amazon marked "Heavy" sitting in the living room that I can't touch until tomorrow. And a big order from powder valley arriving on Monday. I dont think I've been this giddy about anything since my kids were born. Excited and scared all at the same time. Had the hornady manual for a couple of weeks. Reading and re-reading everything, looking up all the powder and bullet options. Cant wait!

          A couple of things -
Get a notebook and write down things like page [ hi-lite things you like ] , book , bookmark - etc .
A lot easier later when you say to yourself where did I read that ?
On computer I have guns folder . Inside are other folders powder , bullet , stores , calibers - to name a few .

              Mine started as a 1/2 inch notebook . Now there are 4 - 3 inch ones .
One is just for new powder throw away ads .
BTW - to me a good gun store has a lot of the throw aways . The gun shows don't really have them here any more .
I always get at least 2

Haha, funny you guys talking about having to get a rifle based on something you found for a certain caliber, or one you don't have. That's how I determine what my next one should be. "What don't I reload for yet?"

As for having a mixed apprehension/excitement about your first reloads, perfectly normal. Even funner for me as i'm generally working with rifles that are 75-110 years old, lol.

I was fine with my first reloads, my first builds though got the chair, gun on arm rests, butt stock against a tree, me on other side of said tree with a piece of wire to "pull" the trigger!

                      No issue yet!

I was pretty surprise how simple it is to reload. My first load was for .45 pistol.

I made sure I shot it at a public range so they could find my body if something went wrong. I told the range master, "This is my first reloads, so please watch me during my first round of shooting."

                        Never had any problems yet.

Now I'm loading 308 (which is more powder and bigger boom).

I'm excited, and scared at the same time. Is that normal?

I got the same feeling when I put 50 grains imr4198 behind 360 grains of 45/70 bullet(So you know I turned my head when firing my first shot)!
I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

40gr behind 400gr cast is quite a thumper (1580'ish muzzle velocity). I was having a hard time resisting the flinch by the 20th shot (zeroing).
With the lighter 360gr projectile, I am curious if 50 grains would be better or worse.
