    clean the inside of brass??????

so ive read prob like 10 different threads on brass cleaning and all of them talk about walnut/corn media cleaning the outside of the case. i am wondering if i need to clean the inside of the case. i just ran some 40 cal for about an hour and the outside looks good but there still seems to be some residue and media inside of the cases. the media is not a huge deal to me because i can get that out. i am more wondering about the residue. should i forget about it or brush it out?

the tumbling process should clean the insides also. try 4 hours with walnut and some kind of cleaner or polisher.

I use walnut media with Dillon brass polish for about one hour and all is well for me.

Most of my brass doesn't have it's insides shiny clean. So long as there's just a small amount of carbon still in there, you'll be fine.

If you want the inside of the brass shiny you could look into ultrasonic cleaners.

Powder residue inside the case has no affect at all with reloading. I would be more worried about the ash that collects in the primer pockets. If you want to clean the insides. I have found that soaking you brass with a diluted mix of Simple Green and hot water does the trick. Just mix them well in a bucket. Learned this from some black powder shooters and it works. I have tried it then used the vibrating cleaner with walnut shells. They came out looking "almost" brand new. I like to use my walnut media with a little moisture in it. Has no dust and seems to work faster. If you use this methed, do it before you size and decap to prevent media from cloging your flash holes......
