    Another priming question

1)Is it possible to substitute SR primers with SP magnum primers in mild loads?

2)Is someone aware of a vendor who`s got SR in stock?

Powdervalley had wolf .556 primers a week ago I wanted to order some when I get my next paycheck, but now they`re out of pretty much everything.

Should have used the credit card....

I never mix primers. I always use primers as they are intended. Seems like the only way to get the primers these days is place a back order and wait for it. Or small local shops may carry them in small quantities.

The local stores are out too. I guess I`m SOL.

Found some on GB, for an outrageous price and no sales to CA. Where is the puke smiley when you need it?

Funny you should ask as I just tried this yesterday for 223. the small pistol mag primers worked fine no noticeable difference. as soon as I get a chrony I plan on doing further testing. as far as small riffle primers I got 2k from J&R in livermore they seem to somehow always have them in stock.

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.

If you are in LA area, I have some small rifle primers that I can spare. PM me.

In the "time before time" reloaders would use small rifle primers when creating
the first magnum handgun loads. For no such thing as a Mag. pistol primer
was around yet. One should refrain from the practice as the primers are
different for a reason. My Dad used them in his "Hot" 38special loads, I also
noticed a few scratchouts on his load data as well.

The primer cups are "supposed" to be slightly thicker on rifle primers, so it
would be best to NOT use pistol primers in rifle loads for fear of pierced primers.
