Loads 2.25" 357 Mag

Looking for recipes for SP101 357, short barrel 2 1/4".
Fast powders I have are Ramshot Zip & True Blue.
projectiles would be 125 gr and 158 gr Xtreme Plated
RNFP.
My thinking would be a light bullet with a fast powder.
Thinking about starting with 6.4 gr of Zip with 125 gr
RNFP plated.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Damn, that's a pretty revolver. Gotta put one of those on the list!! I load xtreme bullets for my 6" revolvers. I do use 357 brass but try to keep velocities around 38/38+p speeds. I'm using bullseye mostly, also power pistol. I don't know what the data is for your powders but whatever they list for 38 or 38 +p would be fine. I wouldn't try to ramp up the velocity with plated bullets too much. Save that for jacketed.

I have not tried zip or true blue... My lite load for my 2in Smith mod. 60 are 5.3gr cfe pistol with a HSM plated or Bear Creek moly coated 125gr rnfp.. My 38sp +p load of 6.4 gr cfe pistol and 125gr jacketed hp's (mixed) are still very controllable.... I have tried faster and slower powders but cfe pistol gave me the best accuracy in high and low loads.... My friend has your Ruger pistol and these loads work well for him also... Cheers...
