    Brass primed by someone else

    I don't shoot other's reloads, except for maybe 1 or 2 people I trust.

That being said, I picked up some brass 6 or 7 years ago in an auction. There are 100 .308 cases that are already tumbled and primed.

Check length and reload or deprime and start over?

I would load and shoot, but I'm not a stickler for primers. The 'proper' route would be to use known primers. Along that same thought level is that you're not supposed to press out live primers, but that's another thing I've done that's not in line with the 'rules'.

I'd start over, but that's just how I am...

Procedure for pressing out live primers.

Put on safety glasses or a face shield and gloves.

        Use universal depriving tool

Raise ram carefully until pin makes contact with primer.

Slowly apply additional pressure until primer pops out

Reloading for several decades, I'd start over.

I'd inspect to make sure the primers are seated properly and use.

If you have a load developed for that caliber, i would load 5 and see how they shoot. Then decide.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Just looking at it in a practical sense.

100 primers will cost you $3.50. If you end up having to pull bullets and re-reload those 100 rounds due to those bad primers you would gladly pay a lot more.

Just start over and do it right.

                    It's only 100 cases I'd start over.

You might be able to ID them by color of cup & compound.

If you pull the primers save them for the next campfire, at least you'll get some enjoyment out of them.

In that a magnum primer and a regular primer look exactly the same, I'd start over.

Depends. If using a "starting" load for range fodder, shoot 'em up. If using an established load in the upper pressure percentile, swap 'em. If different brass than you're accustomed to, establish case volume compared to your standard prior to proceeding.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just starting with 308. I'll pop the primers and start over.
