I started using the hand primer seater a few years ago and am happy with it. I don't think it operates as smoothly now as when I started with it. Fair wear and tear should probably be expected after ten of fifteen thousand rounds I suppose so it's probably due for retirement. Has anyone else worn one out yet? Just curious.

RCBS Hand Priming Tool

I did. Bought another and they changed the design or I got old stock. It seated the primers too deep for my liking. Tried modifying it but it never worked as good as my first one.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Try the Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Perfect Seat Hand Priming Tool. It is the best hand primer I've used IMHO and I've tried the RCBS, Hornady, and Lee.
You can adjust priming depth and it comes with all the shell holders you will probably ever need. It's also designed to reduce hand fatigue when priming a lot of cases. I highly recommend it!
You might run into problems finding it in stock, but if you can wait a week or two and have Midway either notify you or backorder one it seems like that's about how long they are taking for them to get them back in stock. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/58...d-priming-tool
In the last picture you will notice a dial... That allows you to adjust priming depth. It's great because even within the same caliber different brass seems to need a few thousandths difference if you are anal retentive like I am, but for me that came with a rifle that was really picky about depth... If a primer was more than 10 thousandths below flush it would not fire... Which I know is to deep anyway, but with this tool I've found the claims to be true as long as you are using the same bread that you can set the guard for the right primer seating depth on the first case and no matter how hard you push the lever every primer will be seated at the exact same depth.
I hope that helps...

Have primed about 9.5k of 223 and another 1.5k of 30cal.I started using the hand primer seater a few years ago and am happy with it. Still going strong, so far have replaced the large and small primer feeds and the large primer seating rod since it wouldn't consistently seat the primer.
Send an email or write to RCBS and request a replacement of the worn-out parts.
RCBS is pretty good!Comment
