Any experience with Speer Deep Curl 30-30 bullets?

I got a great deal on 500 of these in mixed 150 and 170 grain with the intent to use them as plinking rounds in my model 94 lever gun.

The problem (?) is that the nose profile (to me) seems to sharp to be safely used in a tubular magazine.

The really weird thing is that out of the box of 500 I found exactly 1 each of 150 and 170 grain that have what I consider to be a typical flat point for use in a lever gun.



The bullet in the far right is a sierra pro hunter in 30-30. In order these are

170 gr (all but one in the box)
170 gr oddball from the box
150 gr (all but one)
150 gr oddball
150 gr Sierra Pro Hunter (for comparison)



Tip diameter on the 150 and 170 in question is .170 and .174 respectively, compared to a tip diameter of .190 and .200 respectively for the single "odd balls". The Sierra Pro Hunter 150 is .201 at the tip.

I would use any of those projos in a lever gun. No problem.

Thanks guys. So even though these bullets' tips make direct contact against the primer of the round in front of them in the magazine they are OK? Is it just a pin-point (spire/spitzer) that is a no-no? I've never seen a bullet with this profile for 30-30 so it threw me off.
