Wrong sized case, how to resize ?

Hello all, newbie in reloading here , I acquired some tumbled, deprimed and resized 308 casing but the opening (mouth) is sized to .325 and I want it to get back up to .343. How would I go on by doing this so I can use it? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance !

Assuming you really have .308 brass, run it through the sizer die. The sizing ball will size it correctly.

Are you sure about those dimensions though? I happened to be loading .308 right now and the inside dia. at the neck is .3005.

You can also use a K-M Expandiron for 30 caliber. They run about $12 + shipping

Seems .343 would be pretty big for a .308 bullet.

Yes, it's 308 win for sure . It's just its my first time loading and a friend told me to keep the opening at .343 so the bullet is not forced in when seated? What size is the opening for your case after resize ?

You really need to reference a reloading book. They give you all the specs you need.

O/P, you are going down the wrong road with your measurements. A regular 308 Win. F/L resizing die will bring your cases back to what they should be. It is the inside the case neck measurement that's important. The outside measurements can vary due to the brand of brass you're using. There are brands that have thinner / thicker neck thicknesses that will change the outside diameter.

Your friend is not giving you correct information. You really need to find an experienced reloader and have them show you the ropes. If you want to measure, you need to be shown how and what to measure.

Where's stilly when you need him? Anyway, you need to stop right there with the flawed measurements and process and start all over. Blank slate. Read the manuals carefully, and understand that neck tension is a good thing.

You should be measuring the inside of the neck when F/L resizing.

When you use a redding competition neck sizing die, you measure the outside to determine the correct bushing size. Completely different process.

First, understand what you are doing before you even try to do anything.
Next, believe your reloading manual and NOT your friend or any one here on the web.
With bottleneck cases, as the case enters the sizing die it is sized down and when coming out the neck is expanded so the ID is 0.001-0.002" under bullet diameter.

OP, you are loading bullets that are .308" diameter.

Proper internal neck diameter after sizing. Should be .001-.002" less than that, .306-.307", for proper bullet seating tension, and retention.

The dies have a expander ball on the center shaft. The die does all the resizing.
Lee dies have a 1 piece center shaft that will expand the neck.
