I love mine for fine tuning loads. It's always 100% spot on after the first few initial drops. That's only because the powder has been sitting for awhile in the hopper. It is a lot faster for me after processing on the single stage. I would highly recommend it.

I use the lee's too (they can't be beat for the $15 bucks) as well as the FX with a dandy trickeler feeding the pan thru a hole in the rear wind screen. But, I way prefer https://www.quick-measure.com/ as it is simply faster. To switch between powders or loads a feed tube is quickly pulled and pushed back in.

I have one of the first ChargeMasters and never had any problems with it.
If it died, I would buy another one.

Love my charge master. When I am using it is seat while it is dispensing the next charge. It is not about speed for me. All about consistent powder throws. I do verify on my 10-10 as I just don't trust them digital scales completely.

ANY electronic balance is subject to problems from fluctuations in household current, phones, cell phones, florescent lighting, speakers, magnets of any kind, temperature variations (including warming the unit up) drafts, etc. Most people think that an electronic balance with a digital read out is automatically better than an analog scale. It's not, it all depends on how both are used. I'm willing to bet that most people who have problems with Chargemasters are simply not using them properly. BTW, they can, and need to be programmed properly. Please refer to a few youtube videos to see how to program them for your personal needs.

So in your opinion, would calibrating with, say a 100gram check weight, before every session suffice?

It depends on if you are using anything to stabilize your household current or not. If you trust your power source not to have fluctuations while you are in the process of using it,

I honestly don't remember what was wrong with the chargemasters I had. Maybe they just weren't as consistent as my beam scales. I'm sure I didn't change the settings.
I don't have the inclination to reprogram a scale.

I did all of that...pretty much every trick I could find as well as on the phone with a RCBS Rep...I don't know how clean my power is so I bought a filter or what ever they are called I think it's still plugged in to the outlet behind my bench...I think it was about a $120 bucks if I remember correctly.

I use the pan weight as a check. Put the empty pan on, scale should (ideally) read all zeroes. Remove the pan (check whenever you're dumping the powder charge), and the scale should read [negative whatever-the-pan-weight-is].

On my scale (an Adam, don't recall the model number), the weight curve doesn't change, but the zero tends to drift +/- .02 to .06 grains over the course of a load session. Placing the empty pan on and TAREing the scale corrects that.
