    Wrong brass

While sorting brass from my last range trip I noticed some 45 GAP and 38 super worked their way into my collection. I think I got it all out but it got me thinking what would happen if one got through...

I think I would find them both when charging and flaring as the 38 super would get over flared and the 45 gap may not get flared at all. The super bullet would get seated deeper than a 9mm and should not pass my inspection I give each round once I am done loading it.

I think the super would be fine if I fired it as the case is longer and as strong as the 9mm brass.

The 45 GAP should be good as well because the charge I use for 45 ACP is right at the max for the GAP.

Not that I want to try it, it just got me thinking.

Anyone ran into this issue and ended up firing a round?

I have always found the 38 supers in my 9mm when flaring.
One has NEVER gotten the rest of the way through the press.

Not sure how you decap - I do pistol cases by hand and notice different cases real quick .
Then inspecting after tumbling and repriming - not to mention loading the cases in the shell tubes .
Even sizing and flaring feel different - I get a few - " now what " when different cases show up . I and 8 others pick up range brass and used to buy buckets of range brass , so we kong of pay attention to cases

I use a Lee Turret. I tumble primed. So I decap and resize all at once.

I am sure I would find them all as I am touching every brass to place it on the press and inspecting every loaded round it just got me thinking, that's all. I even look at the head stamp of every brass because they all feel different as the go through the press. Some are harder to resize or have tighter primer pockets and take more force to run through the press. Also some of a lot of older 45 brass seams to have thinner case walls. I check it closely for case splits after seating. None so far.

I had a lot of problems priming on press . So decap , tumble / vibrate
I don't really care how shinny the cases are as long as they are clean .
When we go to range the magazines are all full and none us us make a point of showing others our cartridges , just pop more into M T mags .
