    40 loads and Titegroup

Reloaded a bunch of test rounds to try out in my H&K P2000 and my dads SA XD 40. Both seemed to like the 180gr xtreme bullets over 4.8 gr of Bullseye the most out of the powder ranges we used and 231.

Those were pretty good rounds and I have another 400 loaded up ready to go now. however we also tried some 200gr Hush subsonic rounds and really liked those.

So I have picked up 200gr bullets to start loading those. Thinking about using titegroup though as it is covered in manuals a bit more than the Bullseye is.

Anyone else use Titegroup for their loads? I have read that it is close to the same burn rate as Bullseye, is that correct?

Titegroup is a fast powder. 4.7gr is the max load for a 180gr. It's 5.7gr for bullseye, so it's quite a bit faster.

I would only use titegroup for low power loads in 40, and I'd load them to max OAL of 1.135.

One of my best shooting loads is with TiteGroup under a 175- gr cast/powder coated bullet in my Glock 40’s as well as an XD that I have. I've also used it with 165gr Xtreme plated and 180 gr Nosler jacketed bullets with no issues. Both Bullseye and TG are close to the top of the burn rate list. I confess to having never shot anything bigger than a 180 out of my .40 cals though.

I used to load 200 grain hardcast in 40S&W for USPSA limited division major power factor. I was also using Titegroup as it gives me the best bang for the buck. The recoil impulse is fast and bleed off quickly resulting in a fast cycling 1911, but soft enough for fast shooting. Be careful when loading near max as pressures can spike up if you're using range pickup brass or mix headstamp brass. Mostly all the case head blowouts I've seen on the range with the 40 used 200 grain bullets. I ended up using WSF powder instead of TG with 200 grain bullets. With my guns in 40 that don't have full support of casehead I refrain from using 200 grn with TG loads.

No plans to go near Max pressures. Not trying to make any comp numbers, just liked how they shot and going to try and recreate that. All my brass is currently xtreme brass.

Find some 155 hardcast and 5 grains of TG. In some guns you may have to switch to lighter recoil springs.

tagged for info, as I have 16 pounds of TG and a whole lot of bullets to use up.

Thanks for the input all. I went out this morning to go buy powder and store had a eight pound keg of bull's-eye for $160. Just could not pass on that. Never see that here. So I won't be testing out titegroup

When I used to shoot limited, I too started with Titegroup, but moved to Winchester WST. I used coated vullets so the high temp of the burn was more of a concern to me. If your accuracy is good w/o any pressure signs then you should be good to go. I found that the bases of my bullets were getting heated up too much and I was getting leading. WST has a bit slower pressure peak and I settled on that. VV N320 is even better but it's $$$ when you can get it.

I like Titegroup (I use it for 9mm), however it burns hot and dirty. For my .40 rounds I use N320 for competition loads with 180 grain coated lead bullets.

I use TG for my 9mm, .40 and .45. It's my go to powder for these calibers. When loading with TG, make sure you pay attention, because of the small quantity... it's easy to double or even triple charge.

Easy to triple charge? How is that even possible? What are the odds that someone would drop three loads of powder into one case?
