blackpowder Compression Dies or Plugs

I posted this on another form but wanted to see if I can get any information here.

I wanted to get started in loading blackpowder cartridges and want to purchase a compression die. I checked with Midway, Cabelas and a few other places and the Montana compression dies are all out of stock.

I found a compression plug which replaced the expander in a expander die. Does anyone have experience with this set up. Here is a link to one I found at www.buffaloarms.com

Would I be better off going with a whole separate compression die, or is a replacement plug worth trying?

I made a .45-70 compression plug for a spare expander die about 8 years ago. It's easier to have a separate die to leave set up or leave in your turret press but antyhing will do in a pinch. If you call Buffalo Arms they will be able to answer all of your questions about books, custom expander plugs, compression plugs and suitable components and bullets for your rifle. Far more involved than loading for a modern rifle but much more rewarding.
