    38 super bullets

Have 1948 vintage 1911 38 super with Kart barrel. Anyone load for such a rig? Looking for what bullet seems to get best accuracy. Jacketed or cast. .355 or .356. Will most likely be using Universal powder cause I have a good supply. Thanks..captn-tin

I do not know what will give you the best accuracy in your gun.

I tried some Berry's 125gr HBFPTP (Hollow Base Flat Point Thick Plate) bullets in 9x23 Winchester and 357 SIG loads (@~1500 fps), and they worked great. They may not be match quality, but in my stock Glock pistols I didn't notice the difference between cast and the Berry's - except that there was no leading in the barrel. If you are looking for a good low-cost bullet, those are the ones to try.

P.S. 9x23 Winchester is similar to 38 Super, but it has more power.

Jacketed--0.356-0.357" bullets. One of the "best" I have found is the Zero 121gn 38 super JHP (also, best for 9x19 and 9x21). Speer 147gn GCHP is very good.
      Cast--0.357-0.358" bullets.
