+1 to Bear Creek Supply Bullets

I live locally and stopped into Steve's shop today to pick up some .38 wadcutters.

We shot the breeze about his bullets and reloading and he was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Great guy, with great prices and I recommend him based on a few minutes of meeting him. A good California gun fellow and supplier.

Been using 38 LHBWC of Steve's for years. Really good bullets. Just a little tough to get at times. Luckily, I met a local supplier. Got 20 K now.

I'm down to my last 1k of 125gr LRN moly coated 358
dia bullets... Great plinking bullets in 38sp ,,, clean (no moly smear) and load very easily without scraping off the hard baked on moly surface... Also a Cali business I want to support... Cheers...

I'm not local, but get over that way at times. I get 'em from the source too.

My favorite is his 45 200gr HBRN.

        Good guy too.

That's what I picked up as well.

He told me that all of his bullets are bhn 14, so not too hard but not too soft.

I am still deciding on what charge of 231/hp38 to use these with for some powder puff target loads. I was thinking 3-3.3 gr.

Yeah, I haven't ventured into any other powders (although I wanna try 231 and CFE) for my target load other than the tried and true 2.7 to 3.0gr of Bullseye....standard target load for many years and really a powder puff to boot. 2.8 actually works best in my 686, 6". WW brass and primer, brass all trimmed to 1.42", bullet just a shave past the brass, literally a shave.

Steve has supported several matches in California for a very long time. He is a great businessman and we love to spend money back with him for his support of action shooting in general. I cast my own and still turn to Bear creek bullets when I don't feel like casting my own, clearly an excellent product with a good guy in the background.

Same here. I load 'em with 4.6gr of Green Dot. I'm also fond of the 200gr SWC.

I'm liking those bullets also. Just about the same nose profile as a 230grn RN.

Last time I stopped by Steves bullet shop, I thought his dog was going to eat me! Ran full speed at me, took a sniff and walked away..Whew!

Ya...they'll feed in anything. Hollow base helps seal the barrel, keep pressures low and IMHO helps accuracy. The reduction to 200gr makes them very pleasant to shoot.

If it is the same Bear Creek dude running the place since the 80's, then they are plenty good.

I really need to pick up some Bullseye and work on some of those classic loadings. I put together 200 hbwc's with 2.2gr of 700x. Looking forward to shooting them. These make me want to get a chronograph for some fun, I have a feeling they might not even break 600fps out of my snubbie.
