    Is this safe to shoot

Let me start off by mentioning that Im still new to the reloading thing. Ive done about 1300 rounds and still learning something new every day.

This slipped through my hands and made its way into my press. I caught the problem after I pushed on the handle and flattened the primer. Its seated deep enough but just flattened. I dont plan on shooting it but wondering if it would be safe to shoot.

    Shoot it without worry.

Safe, probably, but you might not get ignition. That's seated pretty deep.

The NT(non toxic) rounds use a primer that is slightly smaller in diameter than a "toxic" primer, so you really crushed it in there.

I would think that being seated that hard may have popped the anvil loose in the primer cavity. Personally I would set aside and re-do it.

Agreed. Re-do. Although the chance of an issue is somewhat low, why take a risk. It is only one round.

              Re do it.

              There's a bullet puller for a reason.

                safe? yes.

                Will it fire? Who knows

Can either re-do or shoot itatthe range with little expectations.

TMK large pistol NT brass uses SP primers, but SP brass there is no difference.

The reason that happened is that the primer pocket has a crimp that needs to be removed.
Not all 9mm FC NT are crimped but they all have a larger than standard flashhole, 0.10 vs 0.080.
                    They use standard size SP.

I haven't noticed the flashhole size to make any difference over the chrono for standard loads but I would avoid these cases for hot loads.

Just reread the OP's original post.

Doesn't seem like he's gone past the priming stage so may as well punch out the primer (carefully) remove the crimp and start again.

It is not bad to pop out a live primer! I have done it many times, I have even drilled a live primer to get the case out of my die. I would recommend putting on ear protection!!!

I would rather spend 30 seconds depriming and repriming then risk a safety issue.

Not clear, but yea....if just a primed case, R&R the primer.

If one wanted to experiment, just fire the primed case in your garage.

                            Great idea!!

put the barrel into a old shop towel pull the trigger and let's see what happens

I believe that is safer than depriming an already primed case and way more fun

I have fired sized brass with primers and bread only... It is safe

You could go ahead and try, but why risk it. It cost you what, .13 to make?
