    Best ultrasonic cleaning solution

I've used vibratory tumblers and normally use a stainless media tumbler. I like them just fine...

But then I realized that I bought an ultrasonic cleaner a few years back. I never really got into it because it didn't do a great job. I didn't realize that you had to put solution into the water.

So now I'm looking for the cheapest yet still effective cleaning powder or solution I can find.

    Any ideas?

I use dish soap and vinegar per this article, works better then other stuff I've tried:

I've seen ultrasonic cleaning, just twice, and not impressed at all.

      I'd just make my own.

Yeah, I tried it once a few years back. It didn't work. Then I found out recently that I'd done it incorrectly. Saw what another guy had gotten out of it. I'm tentatively sold.

My wife has one for her jewelry, I just throw some water and dish soap in there and after a few cycles my bolt carrier group is spotless. Sometimes too clean it strips off all oil and carbon. I immediately dry it off and put CLP on it. I need to buy one big enough to put bigger items in for my other gun parts since it works so well.

I like Gesswein Supra Galvex cleaning solution. I use distilled water to dilute it 100:1. Sometimes I will use a little Citric acid in the mix.

Cheap ultrasonic units take a long time to clean cases, but eventually do the job. I know because I have a cheap, low power unit. Best results are when I don't put too many cases in the tank. I am thinking a more serious commercial unit might do the job more quickly.

I have several commercial quality U/S cleaners that I use for cleaning my precision cases that I don't want to put through the FART.

I use detergent and citric acid mix much like the solution I use for rotary tumbling.

Don't expect to get the same results.

The cases are squeaky clean but U/S cleaning does not polish the cases like rotary tumbling does.

Ultrasonic is one of the easiest cleaning option out there. Try Lemishine (or whatever its called....used for dishwashers) and a dab of liquid soap. The brass comes out super clean inside and out in about 15 minutes. The key to prevent discoloration is to dunk the brass into ro or distilled water and then dry it out asap via sun or hairdryer....

I use the Frankford concentrate here. It lasts a long time. I usually get several washes out of one batch.

It does clean very well. I don't tumble here because I'm more concerned with innards cleaning, not appearances. About 10 minutes and it's GTG.

I am kind of funny / weird
If enough time i run with a drop of palmavelive soap / bottled water . I want the creases in base of shell clean . Then I will save solusion and sonic dry [ shakes out more water .
Then I will tumble - faster drying-
But I also decap by hand .
I tried putting water in with pins on rotating - other than less noise , you still have to dry .
