What are you reloading match type .308 ammo for?

So far I've gotten my cost down to around 60-65 cents per round using the following:

- Fiocchi Brass
- CCI Primers
- Sierra Matchking 175 BTHP bullets
- IMR 8208 XBR

Does that sound expensive to you guys?

Yeah, cheapest I can find online for FGMM 175 grain is about $1 a round if I buy by the case.

60-65 CPR is a little on the high side but you’re using new brass. You’re still ahead considering a good price for factory loaded SMK’s are $1.00 per round.

IIRC the last time I loaded 168 and 175 gr SMK’s (last year) I was in the 51-54 CPR with CCI primers, IMR 4895, and range pick up brass (PMC).

If you’re looking to cut costs, buy powder/primers in bulk and use range pick up brass. Then maybe take a look at the Hornady 168 or 178 gr HPBT’s when they go on sale.

Just on the brand "new" price. As I reload the brass, I agree with your sentiment that price goes down geometrically.

I reload in Lapua cases, with Varget and Sierra match kings for 1.26 per round, with new cases.

Realistically this brass will last between 15 and 20 loadings. However, only accounting for 5 loadings, I match your price of 60 cents per. If I hit 10 loadings I'm down to 51 cents.

I buy powder by the pound and primers by the 100-1000, bullets by the 100. Prices could drop another 10 cents buying in bulk

I'm @ .49c with 44g Varget by the 8, 175 SMK by the 500, and primers by 5k.
Purchased bulk LC11 several years ago, on the third time around.

Below are my components:

Lapua Brass - 75 cents per piece but you can use it 7 times ( way more if you neck size and anneal)
SMK 168 grain - 32 cents a bullet, I buy online and in bulk
IMR 4895 - 6.5 cents a charge, 43.2 gn, I also buy in bulk
CCI 200 - 2 cents, bulk again


Total cost around 50.5 cents a round, if I use the brass 7 times. I know guys are on 15 and 20 loads with Lapua.

I also have a ton of PMC brass that cost me 5 cents a piece.

I use Nosler Custom Competition blems from Shooters Pro Shop. Around $24 per hundred, but I buy them once a year on sale for around $19 per hundred. I have bought and fired 3K so far, and for me they work as well as SMK.
