    Brass Catchers

With the closure of Bullseye in San Rafael, Richmond Rod and Gun is closest and my new spot.

I like it there, but I'm finding it a pain to pick up my 9mm and .45ACP brass. With the partitions at Bullseye, brass would pretty much stay in your area. But with the openness at Richmond, there is brass flying around all over the place. Last trip there, I did not even bother picking it up.

Any suggestions for brass traps/catchers for semi-auto pistols or tips on retrieving your brass? I guess I could mark it.

    Grazie!

    Handguns is the toughest.

I built a pvc frame that i didnt glue together, and i drape a towel over it to act as a partition, right now its for bench use with rifles, but you could do the same thing with a larger frame and a beach towel. The brass pretty much drops straight down as long as it hits the towel. You could leave some on the ground at the bottom and much of the brass should end up on it. Mine is suppsed to feed into a plastic tote, but im still tuning it. It works well but nowhere near 100%.

I use this one for semi-auto handguns and find it to work extremely well.

With a 1911, it'll catch everything. With a P220, which has a more random ejection pattern, it'll still get most of them. Really improves my enjoyment.

I use this one and it works well

Brass Catcher mounts on picatinny rail -Amazon

I've used it on P220 carry and various 9 mm, it catches most of the brass, on a set of 50 it will catch about 45 4 will bounce out and fall to my feet and I usually only have 1 or two go forward of the line.

This is the one I use and it catches 95% to 100% depending on how far I decide to stand from the catcher.

People seem to get a kick out of it when they see me at my indoor range. Fishing comes up a lot, but hey, beats the hell out of picking up brass off the ground.

+1 on the CMM Shooting Sports Ultimate brass catcher. I get 85-100% recovery depending on the gun.

My .45 1911 tends to bounce out about 15%. Anyone have some tips on how to improve capture efficiency?

Years ago, I bought one on ebay and it works fine. It was designed and manufactured by the seller, and I don't remember the seller's name otherwise I'd provide a link.

I find that positioning the hoop so that rather than being straight vertical, it's about at a 15 degree angle toward you, helps; I think it's to do with a more favorable bounce angle, but I'm not sure why it works, really.

                      I have a cadwell . I use big clips on lane dividers - only catches - maybe 40% .
You change a magazine and you change your stance .

                      The 50 AS , 44 , and 45 ACP cases don't roll / dent as much

I use a old fishnet with a pillow case ziptied to loop, the pole is then duct taped to an old camera tripod so has some up and down adjustment.

Caldwell makes them. Put it in the right spot and it's fine. I use the AR catchers on the rifles, you get used to not bending down.

I used to have hard plastic ones that would snap onto the front dust cover and catch all the brass. The latest thing I have done is 3d print a small frame that fits the contour of the grip and it has a net attached to it. So you hold it with the gun and you can move around and still catch your brass. I never liked the stand up nets due to having to haul it to the range and having to stand is a sweet spot to catch the brass. If you find something compact that works share it, I am sure there are a lot of people interested.
