    Lee pro auto disc

I am going to get 2 of these, one for 223 and x39. Is the one with the chain different than the one with the spring?

Besides the powder throwers I need?

    Double disc kits
    Universal rifle powder through dies

I won't be priming on the same press, so clearance isn't an issue.

The Pro auto disc comes with both the spring and chain systems. You choose which system works best for your setup.
The Universal rifle powder through die is discontinued and replaced by a Short and Long version. For your cartridges you need the long.

I have one of these set up for the 223 on a Classic turret. It works OK but getting the exact powder charge you want is a PITA. It is highly unlikely that it will deliver exactly what you want unless you grind out one of the cavities.

I also have the new Lee Auto Drum powder measure. While not perfect (the powder hopper doesn't attach securely so needs to be secured with silicone tape) it works extremely consistently with an "infinitely" adjustable cavity which is also quick change.

Uses the same rifle powder through dies and is actually cheaper than the Auto Disc. I am changing over all my Auto Discs to the Auto Drum.

Suggest you may also need a riser.

Instead of the double disc kit, I would suggest you invest in:

      2 adjustable charge bars: http://www.titanreloading.com/lee-ad...20charge%20bar

      4 risers: http://www.titanreloading.com/servic...sk-risers-only

      4 screws: http://www.titanreloading.com/servic...t-hopper-screw

The adjustable charge bar will install on top of the disc. But the fixed diameter disc that goes under it must be larger than the desired diameter of the adjusted charge bar. This precludes the possibility of having a "shelf" bewtween the bottom of the charge bar and the top of the fixed disc that could retain powder and randomly drop it when charging a case.

It will take some experimentation to find the right combination of fixed disc and charge bar adjustment to get into the desired weight range for your intended load. But once there, with the charge bar on top, you have a range of weights available for ladder loads and what not. Plus once you find the right combination(s) you will be able to throw the exact weight you want, as opposed to the weight delivered by a pair of fixed diameter discs.......

How does the auto drum work with H335 or AA1680 and what about varget?

Thanks, I may go this route also.

Hadn't thought of using the adjustable chargebar as a second disc but my experience with them hasn't been that great even when used separately.

Given that Titan is now selling the AutoDrum and ProDisc for almost the same money and the AutoDrum already has adjustable cavities there is a saving to be made for someone who is starting from scratch as distinct from someone who wants to upgrade existing AutoDiscs.

Works well with Varget (ADI 2208) and H335 and Win748. Haven't used AA1680.

Another benefit is that it doesn't leak powder like the AutoDisc.

As you operate the AutoDisc and the cavities move out from under the hopper, the top is open to the outside and invariably some powder will bump out. Not enough to affect an individual load but enough to make a mess after a reloading session.

I switched to the AutoDrum and its awesome. My powder hopper seats securely, so not sure whats going on there. It throws repeatable consistent charges and I have one for .223 and one for 9mm loads, with extra drums that I set for the powder charge- oike I have one for 3.2gr TG another for 4.8gr CFEpistol and another for 3.5gr of E3. I just swap powder and drum and load without having to spend any time setting up.

                        Just revisiting this thread.

Was concentrating on the 223 and not on the other cartridge which I presume is the 7.62x39.

You will need the short die for that.
