Help! Hornady LnL AP shell plate will not advance

It's been a little while since I've reloaded, I've even moved to a new house. Mounted the LnL on a different bench, haven't done anything since.

Now I want to reload again. Set up my stuff, cranked on the handle - nothing, it won't move. I don't even have shells in the plate at this point. I figured the shell plate itself was stuck, so I took it off.

I can force the handle to rotate the indexing sprocket at the bottom, requires same very hard force in either direction. After getting past the notch the ram goes smoothly up and down. Going past the ratchet again requires a lot of force. Nothing appears to be bent. I cannot move the ratchet by hand, it is very stiff.

Nothing looks rusty, I still see lube and it hasn't hardened.

    What to do?

Look underneath. You broke one of the cam pins or the timing star on the bottom of the ram.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

They are both good. The cam pins both move freely when I push on them. The star is intact - I just can't move the star!

You are going to have to start taking it apart to troubleshoot. I was looking bat mine. If you have the shell plate removed, and in the middle of the stroke. The ram should spin.
On the right side underneath the top plate. There is a screw that holds the top plate to the ram. That does come loose also. Other than what I have mentioned. No idea.

Your best bet is to contact Hornady customer service. They are fantastic and you have a lifetime warranty on that press. If you haven't found and corrected the problem, give them a chance. It is unlikely that you have run into something they haven't seen already.

Have you already removed the shell plate to see if there's a primer or something wedged underneath it?

Happened to me. The notch that the shell plate sets in broke so the shell Plate will just spin. I called and got a new one shipped.

I was gonna drill and tap and thread a small set screw but didn't have to.
