Winchester 572 powder...anyone using it yet?

I have just gone thru my first pound of Winchester 572 powder. I love this powder. Works well in 9mm, 38spl, and 45acp. It meters extremely well. Large flattened ball powder. I just loaded up about 1500 38spl wad cutter loads. Using X-treme 148gr copper plated wad cutters. Using 3.2 grains of W-572 powder and seating the wad-cutters flush. Rounds shot very well thru my revolver. Rounds were accurate, and gun and cases seemed very clean.

Anyone else out there using this powder. I will be picking up some more to try 20ga shotgun loads.

Winchester 572 powder...anyone using it yet?

Well, tonight I just loaded my first 12ga shotgun rounds. They were the ones I shot when I was younger. They are Federal Gold Medal hulls.

I used W572 powder. Here is my load data.

    Yes, I did load these at 1 & 1/4 ounce #7-1/2 shot.

Can't wait to see how they shoot.

I did paint the bottom of the shells with purple Dykem to keep them separate.

Winchester 572 powder...anyone using it yet?

I went out to Prado Shooting Park and shot Trap yesterday. I like these heavy loads of 1-1/4 ounce. I think I will try them with #9 shot. I saved 3 of the old shells I loaded to chrono next time. Yes, I did load more then 25 of these the first time.

I also shot some 1-1/8 ounce loads with Alliant e3. They were softer shooters. I think the Alliant e3 is the fourth fastest powder on most burn rate charts. These shoot similar to the Clays powder without the bad smell of the Clays powder.

Here are the 100 shells of 12ga with Alliant e3 in Winchester AA HS hulls with 1-1/8 ounce of #7-1/2 shot. I will test these hopefully this next week.

The blue Dykem is for the Alliant e3 shot powder id on the hulls.

Here is the load data from Alliant's web site I used.

I worked up a load for 38 Super with 115 gr Blue Bullets with 572.. They made major easily and did not show any pressure issues. Used Winchester Small Pistol primers.. Haven't really used it for anything else at the moment.
