    RAD-78L Rifle Powder.

Found a website selling RAD 78L military surplus powder, says it will work in 223, 308 and 30/06 and is comparable to IMR 7383 which doesn't appear on the IMR website or any of my load manuals. Dose anyone have any experience with this powder? Thanks.

Is it Radway Green surplus powder from Great Britain? I bought 24lbs of Radway Green RG4895 surplus back in early 2000 and had great results in .308 with my M1A.

Some info out there, I would pass. Not a wide sweet spot.

Says it's from the Radford Army ammunition plant and is military surplus powder. I though the military used WC 844, 846 and 857.

IMR 7383 is a High Energy Triple Base Powder that was developed for the .50 Cal. spotting cartridge on the 106 MM Recoiless rifle.

It is a very tricky powder to use. The RAD 78L is similar, I would not recommend it. It's very bulky, slow burning powder, not well suited for small arms ammo.

In the link below. There are 4 pages of digestible data and opinion.

Give it a read. ( I would pass on it. Too temp sensitive for SoCal)
