    50 Beowolf or 458 Socom

Thinking of picking up one of these uppers and my question is which is easier to reload or cheaper any input would be greatly appreciated or is there another caliber I am completely overlooking thanks.
I know one is necked down so I'm thinking that might be the harder one to reload and what about price comparison for reloading.

I believe 458 has more bullet choice.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

458 Socom by a wide margin.

Can you explain why you feel so strongly.
I believe they're both pretty close and ballistics and velocity.
Or are you saying Socom is easier to reload/ cheaper?

458 SOCOM was developed for military use and utilized by US armed forces. There are several manufacturers of the uppers and bullets (only one casing manufacturer). The 50 Beowolf is a proprietary clambering by Alexander arms. Only they make the uppers, and refuse to release information on specifics.

Alexander Arms are not the only ones making the 50 Beowulf upper I know they were The Originators but there are other companies producing it radical arms for one.
And dies for both are readily available.

I built out a Beo after being unable to get my hands on any 458 socom stuff a while back.
Reloading is easy, and plenty of bullets.

The big problem with Beo though, other than the brass be very expensive (now carried by Starline), is after having an order for a hard-duty bolt with Alexander Arms for over 6 months, I was only able to find one other outfit making them.
Any time you can avoid buying anything directly from AA, it's a good thing.

                458 SOCOM

Several after market suppliers for bolts (SBR and Tromix)
                Many companies supplying complete uppers

                Better selection of suitable barrels

                No magazine mods required

                Better selection of bullet

Would recommend any owner be a handloader

It does, but you have to modify them slightly. There's also a guy selling followers for AR mags that work better for both Beo and Socom...

I have used standard mags unmodified in a 50 Beo without ANY feed issues.

Radical Arms sells bootleg back engineered .458 SOCOMs too. They're garbage just like their customer service and everything else they make.

Having shot the Beowolf, I like it a lot,

as for what is cheaper and easier to load for, .458 socom for sure, Just more stuff from more suppliers.

That said I like obscure stuff. I could have bought a .22-250 and bought ammo at walmart, No i had to go with the .220 swift.
I want a big .40 bore rifle. (elephant gunish) I could have bought a .45-70 or a .458 win mag or .458 lott. Nope. .416 Rigby.

So for me I'd say beowolf for sure just because i'm a glutton for punishment
