    1.995 is fine...

Personally, I won't go under 1.990.... but I think even so, it is fine.... .308 got like 0.300" neck...

Correct sizing, OAL, trim length, etc. are all dependent on the individual rifle. Getting a case gauge may do nothing for you except to have you oversize your cases as it most likely does not represent your actual chamber. Get a case comparator or RCBS precision mic to measure your fired cases at the shoulder. Set your sizing die to bump the shoulder .002-.003". From your description of the problem, it sounds like you aren't sizing enough. Screw your die down farther and things will get better. But be aware you may start oversizing things. This will lead to premature case failure.

        1. Trim-to length is somewhat arbitrary. I cut mine back to 2.00"
        2. You're using too many digits. There's hardly anything in the firearms world that needs four digits.
        3. +/- 0.002" is less than 1% variation when it comes to surface area against the seated bullet.

It takes very little die movement (less than 1/8 turn) to go from too little to too much resizing. It's a good idea to have a case gage, or better still, acomparitor to help you set the die.
