    CCI primers

It looks like CCI changed the names on primers . I used to look for 200 250 etc .
My nephews called and said they were at store but the numbers I gave them were wrong .
Large rifle is now BR 2 . Is there a conversion chart somewhere ?

BR-2 is the bench rest or match grade of the large rifle.
They are excellent but not a mag primer if that is what you are looking for
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

At some point cci took "bench rest" off the box so it is easy to mistake br-4s for 400s and br-2s for 200s since they just say "large rifle primers br-2" and omitted the bold "bench rest" lettering. I have boxes with both and from a glance, it is easy to mistake them. Regardless, it's the same primer and from the sound of it, not what you are looking for.

I guess I'm probably not making it very easy to understand so in a nutshell, both 200s and br-2s will say "large rifle primer" but the number is what distinguishes them from each other. 200s are still standard and br-2 are still bench rest. The boxes are somewhat misleading if you don't already know what the br-2 stands for.

Thanks , my nephews said that's all they had .
They only had 3 boxes [ 300 ] and they bought them all .
I still have a couple 1000 - for 270 - etc and only sight the rifles in .
If there is no difference , great .

It will say mag on the packaging and be a different number than standard primers.

There is no bench rest magnum.

Thanks , I was at gun show yesterday and they said same thing . While I have seen BR primers [ probably a lot ] I just never paid attention to them .
They / he only had 3000 of the 200 and 2 1 lb bottles of Variant - when I left he had none . Powder was 25 each and 75 for the 3 bricks of primers - Did I pay to much - probably - but include gas , I should have , and want - not need factors - no it was worth it .
He also said there were no BRs for magnums and the posted chart was it unless you go to other makers .
He also said that the requirement for a back ground check does not start until 2017 . The guy at the CRPA said same thing and that they would have the new book on 2016 gun laws at next gun show . He also said you could preorder at the CPRA - but at 60 , I will wait .

Depending on what you need a magnum LRP for the BR primer might be just fine. If it's flash temperature then go to a Remington primer, if it's cup thickness then the CCI should be fine.

Probably 15 - 20 years ago - I stopped buying what was on sale . a couple of blow ups in primers feeder , bent primers , seating at different depths and at about that time I started depriming off press instead on just tumbling and reloading .
I had already switched to strictly ball powder [ better mettering ] and then to just Hodgdon .
